We are so proud of our students who work hard in the adult education classes every week! Many of them are brushing up on reading and math skills. They are taught in small class sizes by staff and volunteer instructors. One of the tutors, a Spring Hill College student, said, “I love seeing the students’ faces when the pronunciation of a word clicks in their heads. This program is just one of the many great opportunities at Goodwill Easterseals!”
Most parents expect they will hold their children’s hands as they grow. Sometimes, the parents need a hand to hold as well. Huntley is a 2 1/2 year old with Down Syndrome. When he was 2 months old, his mother Malea discovered Goodwill Easterseals’ Early Intervention program and the support their family needed.
With the help of Goodwill Easterseals, Huntley learned to eat with a spoon, sit up steadily, and other skills for his age. At the same time, his parents and 6 year old brother Haden have been taught ways to help Huntley participate in daily activities.
Huntley is on his way to a better preschool experience thanks to Goodwill Easterseals!
The path to wellness can include community support too! October 16-20 is National Health Education Week. What are your goals for a tobacco-free life? Don’t forget to check out our wellness resources. http://bit.ly/1X4qG0r
Goodwill Easterseals of the Gulf Coast is proud to announce its 2017 collection of Christmas on the Coast ornaments for Mobile & Pensacola. The limited edition, brass- and gold-plated ornaments have become collector’s items for many Gulf Coast residents. Although we still have many ornaments left from previous years, others have been retired and will not be reprinted.
