Financial Literacy

GES incorporates Financial Literacy instruction into Job Readiness activities for many participants. Participants learn how to manage their money better by budgeting properly and by avoiding “money traps” such as predatory lenders, check advances, refund anticipation loans and other financial practices that come at a steep price to the participant.

Tax Preparation Services:Goodwill Easter Seals offers free tax preparation services in Mobile County from February through April through the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. This service is available to low income individuals, the elderly, and to people with disabilities. All volunteers and GES staff are trained by the IRS and have received certification as VITA Tax Preparers.
