VOCATIONAL REHAB – JOB DEVELOPMENT Program staff help people with disabilities referred by the Department of Rehabilitation Services to secure and maintain regular community based employment.
TRANSITIONAL YOUTH Special Education students from area high schools are referred for job training with our Retail Stores. Program managers provide instruction on basic job readiness and soft skills instruction and hands-on work experience is provided in our retail stores.
AT-RISK YOUTH These services are designed to guide WIA eligible out-of-school youth in identifying and pursuing a realistic career path. Program elements include vocational evaluation, GED instruction, job skills training, and leadership development.
HIGH SCHOOL/HIGH TECH High School High Tech, funded by the Able Trust and the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation is a unique program which targets youth with disabilities aged 14-22. The overall goal is to motivate these youth to graduate from high school and to pursue careers in the technical fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Goodwill Easterseals provides the program at the Dept. of Juvenile Justice facilities in Escambia and Okaloosa counties.
SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (SCSEP) The SCSEP program offers job training and employment opportunities for low income seniors over 55. This program is funded through a grant with National Easterseals and the US Department of Labor. GES sponsors the program in Mobile, Baldwin and Escambia, AL. We provide training as host agency sites at the Pensacola and Ft. Walton Beach locations.
ABILITY ONE GWI Services, Inc. is the GES partner corporation providing services under two Ability One janitorial contracts in Mobile County (Federal Building/Courthouse and United States Coast Guard Aviation Training Facility).
MISSION BASED EMPLOYMENT GES provides opportunities for employment to individuals who would have difficulty obtaining and retaining employment in a typical work setting. Positions are “carved out” through our Donated Goods and Retail operations as well as through our Mission Services division based upon individual gifts and talents as well as any barriers that may impact job success.
WALK-IN SERVICES All Goodwill Easterseals Community Centers offer employment services to self-referred individuals seeking assistance with job search, resume writing, electronic application submissions, and interviewing skills. The computer lab is manned for self-directed job search activities on Thursdays and formal job readiness and soft skill classes are provided at the Mitchell Community Center for those who need extra assistance.
