Last Wednesday, Goodwill Easterseals held an unveiling of the Ladd Learning Center on its renovated Gordon Smith Campus. The center is named for G. Russell Ladd, III, long-time supporter and friend to those served by Goodwill Easterseals of the Gulf Coast.
“The development of the Gordon Smith Center campus is due, in large part, to the volunteer efforts of Russell,” said his son, Allen Ladd. “From Chairman of the Board to empowering agencies that have served countless people, his leadership and passion to strengthen individuals, families, and communities are reflected here.”
Goodwill Easterseals’ mission is to provide services to individuals and families in need of children’s services, education and employment services including job training and career services to people with disabilities, those who lack education or work experience and others who face challenges to finding employment. Goodwill Easterseals aims not only to help people earn jobs, but also to encourage them to take advantage of the services available to improve their financial stability and better care for their families.
The Ladd Learning Center is a gateway to those who are seeking access to Goodwill Easterseals services. “Life is about learning,” said Frank Harkins, President & CEO. “Russell is competently, compassionately, and completely committed to ensuring that the services of the Gordon Smith agencies add value to the lives of those we serve. He is totally passionate about his efforts to help others.”
His passion is evident in a long list of Russell’s accomplishments and awards, which include many leadership positions at local agencies such as the Mobile Rotary Club, the Gordon Smith Foundation, United Way of Southwest Alabama, and the Community Foundation of South Alabama, to name a few. He has been the recipient of the Meritorious Award by both Easterseals Alabama at the state level and Goodwill Easterseals at the local level, which is the highest award given to a volunteer. He was also named Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year by United Way of Southwest Alabama and is a Paul Harris Fellow with the Mobile Rotary Club.
Goodwill Easterseals is happy and proud to honor this servant leader passionate lifetime of services to others.
